RYAN WILLIAMS
My parents got me involved in the game of golf when I was just 7 years old. I would tag along to the driving range when they were getting lessons and I would just hit as many balls as I could with my cut down 7 iron. I loved the game of golf but it interfered with my real passion at the time hockey. I played my minor hockey for North Delta then moved up to the junior ranks and played for the Richmond Sockeyes, Surrey Eagles and then finished my hockey career in Michigan for the Bay County Blizzards. After I ended my hockey career I decided to get into the Canadian PGA as a teaching instructor. After 2 years of teaching golf in Vancouver and playing local events throughout the city my golf instructor Phil Jonas pushed me to become a full playing professional. I qualified for The Canadian Professional Golf Tour 2008 and have played there ever since. I’ve also played on other Tours including The Gateway Tour in Arizona, The High Five Tour in Spain and the Vancouver Golf Tour. Every year I will attempt to earn status on the PGA Tour by going through qualifying school throughout the USA and I won’t stop until it’s accomplished.
I’ve been given a tremendous opportunity to play the game I love for a living and it’s been made possible by the love and support of my family, friends and sponsors throughout the years. My parents Gerry and Sylvia have made numerous sacrifices for me to play this game, my golf coach and mentor Phil Jonas has put in the time and effort in to make me better player and Dan Dodman and all his staff at Cleveland Golf Canada have been behind me from the start. My ultimate goal in this game is to be the best I can be and to share all the rewards along the way with everyone who has helped me.
